Dana-Farber Cancer institute

The dana-farber cancer institute is on of the best around the world. They treat many people aver single day and help many people beat cancer. DF is a great thing to donate to. They are very close to finding a cure for cancer. Many people around our town, Westford, support and donate to DF every single year. There are also many people who run the boston marathon for DF, from westford and many other places. Every year they try to collect as much money as they can for DF patients, and every year on April 21st they run one of the hardest marathons in the world. It is a great cause and many of you who read this should consider supporting the DF foundation.

AB vs. WA! Rematch of the Rivals

A couple days ago on a cold Saturday night our very own WA Grey ghosts played a tough game against their DCL rivals AB. The girls played earlier in the day and tied 1-1. Both sides started out strong in the first half and the ball was going back and forth on both sides of the field. Soon in the last couple minutes of the first half, WAGS forced their way through the AB defense and managed to put the ball also past the last line of defense, the goalie, and into the back f the net. Second half came and the girls continued to fight. Finally with the game about to end, it happened. AB girls passed, shot and scored in the very last moments of the game to put it to a 1-1 tie. Unfortunately the Boys game ended in the same manner. First half of the game WA had a rough start to the game and found the ball being in their half of the field for the first 20 minutes of the game. We started to push back and put a couple shots onto the other goalie until the half time came. In the second half our boys had a couple nice pushes into there half. Doug Searl connected with players Dan Kosteva and Ben Osgood to slip past the defense and shoot. Still 0-0. Later on Dan Kosteva beat two kids and put a quick cross down the 6th yard box and midfielder Ben Osgood managed to get a touch on it to nailed it into...the post. The game soon ended with both sides feeling as if they could of won.                                  Boys) 0-0    Girls) 1-1

Westford Academy Boys football gets crushed

Last friday, boys varsity football got rocked against Concord Carlisle. It was a tough loss for the boys losing 61-14. The Ghosts didn't have an answer for the CC offense. They just get touchdown after touchdown after touchdown. The Ghosts offense didn't get anything going either, Alex Eaton the star running back injured his knee in the second quarter. Ben Rodman took his place and he worked hard out there! The ghosts look to bounce back in there next game against Wayland. Go GHOSTS!

Boys Soccer looks to get payback

The boys soccer team has a very important game against the schools biggest rival Acton Boxborough on Saturday October 15th. The first game against Ab was a tough loss for the ghosts. The ghosts out played them for most of the game, but just couldn't find the back of the net. AB had one great goal from 30 yards out the was impossible for keeper Joey Brunelle to stop. Ever since the loss the ghosts have gone 6-1-1. There record right now is 7-2-1. They are on a great run and look to improve there record today against the Central Catholic Raiders. CC has had a tough year so far but the ghosts are not going to take them lightly. Then saturday night at AB the rivalry continues. We've talked to some of the players on the boys soccer about the upcoming match. We asked Ben Osgood and Ryan Hesseltine what they plan to do for the match. Ben Osgood says " They have to fight hard the whole game and not have any mental mistakes." Ryan Hesseltine says "They need to come out fast and maintain solid team defense for the entire game." They both also included that they need to do better on the offensive to defensive transition game. Well good luck to the those two and to the rest of the boys soccer team. We will be there rooting for you and we hope WA comes out on top!

Amazing things occurred so we decided to go back and give a cover story of what happened for those of you who weren't around here last year. To start it off WA lacrosse was doing well and had started of the season with a 3-0 record. Girls tennis was amazing and led itself all the way to states, while both boy and girl track game made it to a state relay. The boys baseball team has high expectations this year and expect to make states even with their rough start to the season.

Boys Soccer huge upset!

The Westford Academy Boys soccer team had a huge game against the #3 team in the state Concord Carlisle. CC is the two time defending state champions. Its been years since the Ghosts have beaten the Warriors, but the Ghosts knew knew they could do it. CC came out strong scoring two quick goals to make it 2-0, but right before the half ended Kyle Russo made a great move to get a shot and he finished. The half ended 2-1 CC. 5 minutes into the second half Scott Mccord came into the game making his 3rd varsity appearance.  He made a great run down the field and received the ball down the sideline. He made a great cut and beat his man. It was just him all alone with his goalie and he buried it. 2-2, the game was tied thanks to "Scooter." the game went on back and forth until there was 3 minutes left. Kurt Naugler broke through the Warriors defense he was all alone but he was tackled from behind. A PK was awarded and Kurt put it away. The Ghost had there first lead of the game. After the goal though CC came out strong they almost put one in but Scott Mccord comes out of no where and clears the ball. It came all the way to Dan Kosteva, who had Doug Searl wide open he sent Doug and the Ghosts put in one more. That was the iceing on the cake. The Ghosts had upset the Warriors and it was  a great day for Westford Academy Boys Soccer.

Boys Football Starts off 1-1

Boys Varsity Football Started off the season against rival Chelmsford. They ended up having a tough losing by twenty points. It was a tough ay to start the season but the Boys knew they could bounce back. Their next game was against 14th ranked Marshfield. They had to travel  two hours just to get to the game. They were a huge under dog but they knew they could do it. Solid Games from Troy Faretra and Alex Eaton Lead the Ghosts to a 31-27 victory it was a great game for Westford and they are still hoped up about it. Congratulations and Good Luck to Boys football. Their next game is their home opener on Friday Night on the turf.

Boys Soccer opens up the season strong

The Boys Varsity Soccer team has started off well with a huge 5-0 win against Boston Latin. Torsten Nilsson lead the Ghost with 3 Goals! Ben Osgood and Dan Kosteva also added a point on the scoreboard. The boys next game was against their DCL rival The Acton Boxborough Colonials. The game was the first one played on Westford Academy's new turf fields! The boys fought strong but came up short losing 1-0. AB had recieved a corner kick late in the 1st half, the ghost did will and cleared the ball but one AB stopper was holding midfield and the ball was bouncing right to him. He took a strike from 35 yards out and placed right in the corner past our own Joey Brunelle, who had no chance at stopping the ball. It was a tough loss for the ghost because they had out played the Colonials the whole game. The Boys next game was in one week which is a very long break. They had a very important game vs. The Weston Wildcats. They started off strong with Kyle Russo scoring early to make it 1-0 Ghosts! That is how the game stayed with solid defending from Findley Payne and excellent goaltending from Joey Brunelle. The Ghosts next game is Saturday night on the turf against the Andover Warriors!
